Performance is a hard thing to address at this point in time. I can tell you that CLR code right now is very slow but I suppose that's to be expected.
I asked some MS people about performance a while back and the answer I got back was: "What do you need a native UI for?" Obviously this person has never built a complex UI app that uses a treeview, listview, browser and a sizable set of data inside of it <s>... My gut tells me performance for GUI applications is going to suck and the excuse will be that all the data is coming from the Web anyway and that's what's making things slow.
