I am not currently pursuing this matter: Merant wrote an ODBC interface for Visual Foxpro for LINUX, which was in turn licensed by Allaire ( makers of COLD FUSION ). For years, our web front end has been written in COLD FUSION, thus, when we had requests to support the LINUX environment, we tested the COLD FUSION code on that platform and found the anomoly. Allaire has worked with us and "fixed" / "Worked around" the problem.

In answer to your question, the Merant software is a "vanilla" ODBC interface, with a platform base of LINUX. VFP tables may be stored on a LINUX server, and Windows programs can access those tables just fine ( not natively running on the server, but using it much like a NOVELL file server ).

COLD FUSION runs natively on NT and on LINUX. On NT, it uses the MicroSoft ODBC interface for Foxpro Tables, and on LINUX it uses the Merant ODBC interface for Foxpro Tables. I am not aware of a MicroSoft ODBC interface for LINUX.

Thanks for reading the thread.
