I am trying to design a report that is printing a Parent record as Group Header1. The records for it's 5 child tables will be printed in the detail of the report, each in their own section.

I have setup the report with no data environment and I am preparing a "report cursor" view exactly as I need it for the source. I am selecting the most recent 10 results (these are yearly lab analysis) for each child table. The cursor works great and the report "almost" works.

The delimma is that some Parent records will yield varying amounts on each of the child records. For example a parent record may have 10 recs in Child1, 10 in Child2, and 5 in Child3.

I am using the "Print When" area to print each of the different child tables' records at the right time on the page.

I am looking for ideas on how to handle "page-breaking" with these varying record counts in the child tables. In other words, if child1 has 10 recs, child2 has 10 recs, and child3 has 4 recs and all 4 recs can fit on the first page, then go ahead and print it there. If all 4 can't fit then print on the second page. And if on a different parent record the child3 is totally blank and the recs for child4 can fit on page one, then print them there. By all means though, I do not want to breakup any group of records from each child table.

I'm thinking I need to do something in preparing my report cursor, but I'm not sure which way to handle that. Or will it be a combination of the report cursor and some reporting variables?

Gosh I hope this isn't too long winded for someone to read.

Thanks
