You can try SET PALETTE ON/OFF. if its' about a splash screen with just one image on it than most probably SET PALETTE OFF will do. Take a look at the help file on this topic.
You might have to decrease the color depth of your image to 256 colors; any decent image processing program will do that. I use PaintShop Pro (great tool) to decrease color depth optimized. From 16-bit to 256 colors you can't tell the difference,
