I think that time spent learning and gaining experience is NEVER wasted. In addition to learning about the specific problem, I imagine you also gained knowledge of other areas of VFP, learned more about troubleshooting techniques, benefited from several different angles on your problem from other developers, and developed a little extra character and inner strength from the perseverance.

Others benefited from the satisfaction of helping you. Still others reading this thread also learned from it and will continue to through the ages as the archives are searched. All in all, the world's a better place because of your problem. :-)
