set print off would start printing.
It sounds like you're using ? or \ to do printing. Instead you could use report designer to precisely position controls. In report designer using 'print when' you could set conditional printing. After you complete your report, open frx and clear out expr, expr2 and tag fields in first record. This way report should print w/o problems on different printers.
Cetin
