We can also thank him for the longest surviving misnomer in the history of the English language in thinking Native Americans were "Indians". And thanks to the pinheads that made that misnomer stick even when they knew better. Now whenever we refer to someone from India we have to explain that we're talking about "India Indians". Great. Just great. I hate having to pay for 500 year- old mistakes in everyday conversation!
