>>>Is the text.. Idiots Guide to Algorithms... or is that just how you feel about your students after teaching the class for a couple of weeks?

No, actually
Data Structures and Algorithm Analysis by Weiss, and
Data Model Patterns : Conventions of Thought by Hay. With a liberal sprinkling of Knuth from me. As far as how I feel about the students - none are dumb, but lots aren't motivated or excited about the material. There's a good, solid core who've realized that this is the core of problem solving and abstract representation and behaviors. I'd be in pig-heaven if I had an entire class of these.

Register at SCSU next term - I'm the TA for their
Concepts of Operating Systems course being offered by Denise Pirique, my advisor, and probably will present the lectures on memory management, synchronization mechanisms, and the Windows case study. Depending on how much time I have to cover the topics, I can guarentee either to keep them on the edge of their seats for these, or have their eyes glaze over and let them catch up on their sleep. The best part is it's not a prerequisite for non-CS or CSE majors, so the number of people in the course just to fill a prerequisite will be smaller. And it means I'd best get a good feel on the .NET technology to present the probable evolution of the Windows platform, so it's a wonderful excuse to play with C#, .NET, and the Tech Preview of VFP7. The down-side is that one of the case studies for the course is the Mac, so I need to learn something about the Mac OS.
And on top of that, I've gotta make a living, and answer things here...
Know where I can download a life? I've got decent bandwdth here, so it shouldn't take very long!
