>I have this client who's thinking about rewriting a system in Fox 5 or 6. The system is currently in Access. Now I would love to see this happen becuase I am much more comfortable in Fox. But I'm not sure what reasons I can give them to give them that final little boost to make them convert. Can y'all help me out with some reasons? Thanks.

Denise,

A few questions if you please...

Does the client need to upgrade? That is, have the proper evaluations been done yet? It is directly from this first, most important task that the reasons for using FoxPro will become evident. Perhaps they aren't happy with the response time of the current system. Perhaps they have more bodies using it than it can effectively handle.

I always approach questions like this: Am I able to demonstrate a solid business case that justifies my client spending 'X' dollars??

Perhaps they do not need VFP... How do you know this? How do they know this?

Remember, the client's needs always come first. *s*

Once that determination has been made I'd use the good advice you've already been given to explain why the client needs a new system. Do they need to know what it's written in or do they care? If they do care; why? Do they plan on taking over the project after you've done the 'heavy lifting' and go from there? If so, do they have the skill set inhouse?

Stuff like that. <g>
Best,

DD
