I can change SET SAFETY back and forth from ON to OFF and back again and run the following SQL multiple times without error:

SELECT * from tablename INTO CURSOR cJoe
SELECT * from tablename INTO CURSOR cJoe
SELECT * from tablename INTO CURSOR cJoe
.
.
.

SET SAFETY doesn't seem to really affect it, and I don't get any errors.

I am not sure what causes Fox to consider an alias sacred (i.e. unable to be overwritten by subsequent queries)...
