I know just how you feel since I moved to VFP from 2.6 only a few months ago myself.

You will get great help in here, it really is an amazing resource it has saved me hours of confusion.

Trying to get to grips with VFP I must have read all the standard books on the subject but the one book that helped the most was Programming Visual Foxpro 3 from by Whil Hentzen.

Because it was quite an old book the basics were concentrated on rather than the latest whiz bang OOP ideas (though I am sure they are very good)

Try and get hold of a copy if you can even though some of it is out date. I also found the Hackers Guide to Visual Foxpro very useful.

In here you will also find lots of articles and files and FAQs.

In fact I think there is info on modal forms in the FAQs so it may be worth a quick look now.
