I've never encountered an APPEND FROM ... TYPE SDF not actually pulling all of the data into the table.

Are you appending across a slow network link, or from a local disk (is it possible that the append is being interrupted)?

When you multiply the number of records appended by the length of the records (plus one byte for deletion flag) - how much does this differ from the size of the file as reported by Windows Explorer (right mouse, properties, to get actual byte size)?
