I just ran tests on SQL's I'm running and I noticed when the tables are used exclusively the SQL's run about twiice as fast as when shared. Anyone else notice this? Maybe it's well documented but I was unaware of it. Is VFP checking for changes when the data is shared? If so, that would appear to contradict a recent answer in Advisor to Nick's tip for ensuring unique values.
