Try to re-install Word. Better to remove it completely first, than install again.

Check also if you use server version on that computer, OLE works very bad with some client-server installations of Word.

Finally, if you still have problem, contact me for further information. We did a lot of work on the reliability of Word OLE object launching/closing/killing and trapping of all errors.
