I am setting up a "reverse" server from my web server to do maintenance on my clients automatically, and want to use DCOM.
(When they hit the site, I can run the DCOM object ! )

When both machines are started with the same user ID/Password, things seem to go OK, but that isn't the normal state of affairs. And when I checked out alternate settings using DCOMCNFG I got things so messed up the COM objects wouldn't even work on the local machine! (Access Denied messages both local and remote ! )

I have tried the suggestions in Internet App... ( Rick Strahl ) and do have WebConnect running fine, but fine tuning the DCOM settings is drivng me nuts!

Any suggestions or references on how to safely configure this ? I have ADMIN privileges on the machines I have to maintain, but I don't want the clients to reverse engineer my work and attack each other, so I want to set up a very restricted account to access only MY dcom server!

thx
