>I would recommend a laser printer with barcode fonts. You can do a search [internet] for barcode fonts. I have found quite a few where you can download demo fonts. This way you can print barcode labels directly from VFP plus the customer can get added use from a printer instead of just barcodes.

Hi Mark,

The only problem with this scenario is that if the user just wants to print one or a few labels, he will be left with a half-used sheet of labels, so you have to anticipate this.

I have written software where you indicate the position of the first available label on the sheet to work around this very situation, but lately I've been getting complaints that when they run a partially used labels sheet through the printer, subsequent pages come out with dark streaks (toner).

An inkjet printer would overcome this, but you should test it at various resolutions. They keep talking about 1400 dpi, but I think that refers only to the _size_ of the ink droplets, not about the precision of their placement on the paper.

I will check out Dymo's or Seiko's label printers to see if they can be used for this purpose. If anyone's interested in the results, let me know.

Alex
