Coming from a legal family (father is a QC- Queen's Counsel, probably doesn't mean much on your side of the Atlantic, sister is Crown Prosecutor, ditto, Uncle is ... well, you get the idea) I am well aware of how lawyers work. My father says that many young laywers these days should have a peg leg, a hook for a left hand and a parrot on their shoulder!
I actually applied for Law School in my youth but was persuaded in a different direction, thankfully. Being productive yields satisfaction imho.

"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us."
-- Shakespeare: Coriolanus, Act 1, scene 1
