Hi,

I am still writing my user guides in Word - Word 97 in particular. I have about 40 BMP's that the DOC refers to. I was only "linking" to the BMP's, not embedding them into the file. The DOC file is 627KB in size, and 15 of the BMP's are > 1,000KB.

My client asked for an electronic copy of the document, so I saved a version of the DOC file, and went through and saved it with embedded BMP's (insert a picture from file, "Save with Document", rather than "Link to file"). The resulting DOC file is ONLY 1,077KB!! how can this be?
Can anyone shed light on this? (I even copied the file to diskette and to another computer to be sure the original BMP's were not being referenced).
