As far as getnextmodified is concerned (in the 2nd instance) the data has not changed.

In normal circumstances, two instances of VFP (or VFP applications) should not be allowed to change the same record at the same time. The record should be locked when the user starts editing the record, and another user should not be allowed to make changes when the record is locked.
