>My network folks tell me that using Outlook through POP3 can corrupt the Notes database and I may lose my inbox if I try to send mail through Outlook against that account, though they say it's safe to download and read mail.

The only problem that I have in sending is when I reply, I get the copy that's supposed to go to my sent items back in my in box. There is also the problem that I can't access any attachments through Outlook and have to go to Notes.

We're using the R5 client as well. I've noticed that with both Outlook and Notes, the intial startup may be well more than a second (PII 350 128 Mb), though subsequent usage comes up much faster.

Unfortunately, due to the dreadful design of the interface, you have to use a mouse click (AFAIK) to get to the mail page. IOW, you can't indicate a hot key to bring it up. If you could it would simply be a matter of using SendKeys to send the appropriate combination. You could use something other than the basic page, which would include the in box.
