I know that some clients just *LOVE* this idea of a fixed-price contract, but I've seen at least one change their tune once serious negotiations started (this was on "original" work, not a 'repeat' (where some old code was almost good enough)).
Biggest thing was FIRMLY nailing down *ALL* specifications *first*. Didn't really like that idea at all, especially when it was pointed out that *ANY* desired change would cost $ just to negotiate, add to final $ and extend (probably) the delivery date.
I personally would do one, but I would be very careful, possibly to the point of turning off the client. And I likely would do it only with a client I already knew and trusted.
