I just checked eview and you are (unsurprisingly!) so right, it does not touch the code. Unlike the view Generator.
Actually the view generator does something else bad as well. If you insert something like a
{ fn UCASE(myfield) } like ?lcMycomp
in your SQL, it gets converted to
{ fn UCASE(myfield) } like { fn UCASE(?lcMycomp) }
ie adds complexity.
