You may need to use the Access 2000 .mdb file in the Access 97,
All U have to do is ,
Select Database from the tool menu,
Select Convert Database,
Select Previous Version,
Type a new Name for .mdb which is of Access97 Format.

I think this will help you to use it in old version.

Again u can convert it to 2000 format and vice versa
