Hi!
If you need to know the exact order of events how they fired, just look to VFP samples. They contain a sample form that gives you such information and gives you idea how to organize this in your form. In addition, you can switch on events tracking in the debugger to see all events calls and parameters for them in the Debug Output window.
Usually, you can read most in Help. Open help page for control. At the top you will see 'Events'. It gives you list of all events, where you can get information about each of them.
HTH.
>Does anyone know where I could find a good white paper or at least some information describing the different events for each basic VFP object (Form, TextField, etc.) and when they are called?

The professional level of programmer could be determined by level of stupidity of his/her bugs
It is not appropriate to say that question is "foolish". There could be only foolish answers. Everybody passed period of time when knows nothing about something.
