I think it's obvious that Michel uses some kind of scheduled process to generate the default front page as a static, not dynamic page. There are so many statistics there, that performance would be an issue if it were "live" everytime someone hits it.
Or, perhaps it's really a "live" page, but gets its data from tables that are updated periodically by a scheduled process.
Or, perhaps he reverts to a static page when doing system maintenance or testing of new features, etc.
At any rate, right now at 12:30 pm Friday, the front page shows a total of 7 messages for the day, so something is obviously not getting updated on a very timely basis. (Someone needs to check the scheduled tasks, or restart some background app that fires from a timer).
Yup, the system apparently was just restarted (I got the "ERROR ...URL could not be retrieved" for a moment or two), and the front page is now updated from 7 messages to 161!
