Mike,

I suggest you leave everything as it is. Find out who is accessing the databases from the wan, give him a call, and ask him to stop doing that.

If you see setting up a dedicated server as "large corporation infrastructures", I really don't know what to say.

The bottom line is that it's easier to take 4 PC's to this kind of configuration than 20 down the road, and with peer to peer, I don't know about other security options than setting up passwords for the shared resources and disabling broadcasting at the machine that's acting as the server.

Again, I can't stress it enough. If this company is planning to grow past these 4 computers, you should consider a dedicated server. No monitor, no keyboard, just the box. Not even NT if you don't want to, and not even a P-3; you can get by for 4 users with a P-2 300MHz. In my bathroom that would fit where all the magazines are now, and it's NOT a large bathroom! ;-)

>My only contention is I cannot apply large corporation infrastructurers to a small office the size of my bathroom (once I bring in a consultant - the office is so small - I have to step out LOL)
