Hi Terry,

Thanks for responding. I know that this question is interdiscipline, so I know it's a tough one to answer.

The problem is that the FTP site is using non-standard security. It will not accept *any* FTP protocol login and any attempt to login using FTP standards causes a lock-out. The problem with MS's internet transfer control is that it forces either a secure FTP-compatible login with a Username and Password or it automatically logs in as Anonymous. You cannot tell the MS Inetctls control to not attempt security handshaking.

I'm looking at Mabry's FTP/X control but the demo version seems to be a bit shaky and I can't really test it as any attempt to get to that doggone FTP site outside of the department's intranet is disallowed as well.

Ed gave me some ideas about wrappering the good 'ol Windows FTP DOS EXE using the Scripting host, but everytime I try to run that sucker from VFP under Win9x, I freeze the system and under NT I get an invalid memory location read/write which forces a VFP shutdown.

A real dilemma, huh?

I am having to deal with an OS/390 implementation of FTP where the first thing the stupid mainframe does is make a call to RACF. What does this mean? It means that FTP protocol passwords and usernames are not respected and the mainframe demands a keyboard input of the username and password. Any attempt to automate seems to fail. What I really need is an FTP control that can ghost or script faux keyboard input into the FTP input to simulate typing the frigging username and password.
