Jason,

I finally made my mind up and got two NICs for setting up my minimal network. Got it in and RedHat 6.2 already had the drivers, only needed to select it from the list. Good so far. I had some trouble understanding the way RedHat installed the Samba client and common RPMs at the OS installation. I couldn't find /usr/local/samba or the tar file or the configure file. What I ended up doing was uninstalling these RPMs and installing the source RPM. From that point on I followed the transcript of the samba installation chat you hosted.

OK, after all the preamble my question is this: I am at the point of trying to get the SWAT working and other instructions I have (Using samba book by OReilly) point to modifying the inetd.conf file but it turns out my /etc directory does not contain this file. (more preamble..) What other service/daemon do I need to setup in order to have this file installed or can I just create a new one?

Right now the Linux PC can see the windows one but not the other way around. I am going through hell trying to get NT4 to see the NIC. If I boot to DOS and run the diagnostic program it sees and configures it but when I boot to NT it just won't see it. It is an old 3COM ISA NIC I got used for 4 bucks. (that's what I get for being cheap..)

TIA
