>I am programming Outlook using the approach suggested by Andrew MacNeil in FPA of 8/2000. I am successfully sending a message, but it sits in the outbox. I still have to go in to Outlook manually and request tools | check for new mail in order to actually get the message out to the mail server. How can I push the message out? Is there another command I need or is the problem how Outlook is configured? I am using Outlook 97 but my client probably has some stations with Outlook 97 and some with Outlook2000.

This is about the way Outlook is configured. Assuming you've included a call to the Send method, what you're seeing is the normal behavior for Outlook. If you wrote a message in Outlook, you'd get the same thing. Then, the next time Outlook sends mail, the message is sent.
