Hadn't forgot - was just couching in terms of ODBC to be 'parallel' with views.
In fact - I'm getting ready to write my first production App in VB - essentially a component to take data from a billing system and update an accounting system. My idea is to have the VFP app instantiate the VB "translation object" and pass it data via XML - I would then have the VB object talk to SQL Server via OLE_DB/ADO.
Since all data is on SQL Server- I could just run a stored proc to do it all - but I saw it as a good opportunity to gain some VB/ADO/XML skills and get paid for it! <bg>
If you have the time, I would like to ask some questions over the next day or two.
thanks,
