Does anyone out there know anything about AS400 Spool Files?

We are in the process of getting a new client who wants us to convert some AS400 Spool Files into VFP databases. The specific questions we have are:

1. Are there standard line feed/line skip/page break characters?

2. We have seen "1", "0" and "-" in the first column of the files. What do they mean?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
