I am just jumping-in and don't know the history of this conversation...but I think I read that tabbing from field to field is NOT a Windows standard (or at least that was implied)...as far as I can remember (Windows 3.1), tabbing from field to field has always been a Windows standard...in every development platform that I used...and just about every application that I used too.

And regarding telling the users "This is Windows standard"...I disagree. That should be the beauty of OOP. Create a class that conforms to what the user wants and use that instead of the "standard". Of course, it might not be as easy to pick-up for new users that are familiar with Windows, but if it is going to be used in a situation where the program is what is used most of the time, give the users what they want. The bottom line is always what is more profitable to the company (sometimes developers forget this). It might take a developer many hours to accomodate what the users want...but if it makes them more productive, it will generally be better for the company in the long run.

I do agree that some users' suggestions/requests are just an attempt to avoid having to learn a few new things (resistance to change, stepping out of their comfort-level), but if the request means that they will be able to do their job faster (and usually they are the ones actually making the money), it is the developer's job to give them the best (ie. most efficient) tools.

Just my humble opinion(s).
