As for being reasonable; I'm politely sorry if I don't appear reasonable.

Didn't mean to intimate that -- I was not being sarcastic in my comment. I meant quite honestly that you did not appear unreasonable (i.e., "did I miss something?").

And, you do cite several posts that I did not see (this has been a VERY busy thread). However, one that I did see was JVP's -- I don't know for sure what his take on this is, but to me, calling RVs "lousy" does not mean never to use them or to throw them into the dustbin of VFP history. Cases in point: I consider the LOCATE command's performace against non-indexed expressions to be "lousy" but I still use it. I consider VFP's utter lack of security "lousy" but I still use VFP databases. I consider the fact that GetFldState() returns a changed flag even if the same value was used in the replace, but I still use it... and so on

A matter of opinion, I guess. I don't know think that the statements against RV's have been absolute statements against them having any place in the VFP developers' arsenal. Lousy doesn't mean un-usable or worthless.
The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, but wiser people so full of doubts. - Bertrand Russell
