Initially all programs were stopen, exclusive access gained and the tables re-indexed but this did not solve the problem.

As we could not afford to have the these programs off-line we had to start them up again (leaving the process we wanted to run off-line).

The only thing that was not tried was to re-index the tables manually after deleting the dcxs'. Anyway we 'borrowed' a similar program from one of our overseas branches, modified it and tried again. This seemed to be ok.

This does not bare well for runtime systems what if we could not take programms off line. There should be an error trap or somthing for Runtime errors.
