Hi Jacek,

Could you please just quote this Math book precisely? It's very important for me now to find the correct definition. My manager explained to me, how to calculate median, but since it's not the same definition, as AC gave us, I'd like to compare several of them. Andrew's definition may apply to sample statistics (random sequence of numbers), but I'm most interesting in 'real life' median, because I'd like to calculate median price. In this case dividing two prices price_n and price_n+1 by two would give not the desired result:
100000
99000
would give 99500 ??

Thanks in advance.

>Hi everybody,
>Thanks for extensive assistance. I will follow your advises.
>It is just puzzling me why within the same company (Microsoft) the basic function can't be moved between programs. I have just assumed that database is the correct tool to make statistical processing of data and unfortunately, VFP has very poor selection of useful functions in this respect.
>I think that correct action from Microsoft would be to release patch(?) with a set of statistical functions, which matches the Excel set at least. It would take only a few days to professional from Microsoft to do such transfer and it would save lot of time to lot of people.
>I am not a professional statistician but Nadya definition of median matches these, which I have found in maths books.
>Thanks

If it's not broken, fix it until it is.
