Hi Eric,
Thanks for your reply...you're probably right...however there are situations when storing data in General Fields WOULD be appropriate such as when you don't want a lot of external files cluttering up your system or want to restrict access to information.
BTW, never mind the first part of my previous message....a combination of Norton Crashguard and 'hidden' Word apps running....a reboot fixed the problem...
