Am I the only one who discovered that a file on the disk is now shorter than it was?

I have an MP3 file that has been resized from 11 meg to 3 meg. Of course, the MP3 still plays, but the length is smaller. I am running Windows Millenium. That file was ok last night. Today, it was a surprise to see it like that.
