You must have dug fairly deep to find this thread. I think I posted it almost two years ago.
Here is what I found. If I installed the ODBC drivers for SQL 7.0 by them selves I could not get anything to work. If I took an older 6.5 CD, and installed the client software from that CD in addition to the version 7 drivers, I could get it to work. My application was very limited however, I opend three tables, and basically ran a select * on each table. On one of the tables I did a delete * after verifying I had received the data. At the end of an operation, I would transfer data back with a insert loop.
I manually created the DSN for the connection.
I think the SQL 7 no longer provides 16 bit ODBC drivers, and the clinet software on the 6.5 CD provided both 16 and 32 bit. The project had no budget, so as soon as I got something that sort of worked, I ran a few tests and went on to another project.
