Hi Alan
A whiteboard just means that both parties share the same viewing space.
Just as if you where both in the same conference romm and drawing things on the same white board / chalk board whilst discussing them.
So if I want you to buy my companies ball bearings but you are worried about what ball bearings will work in a particuar configuration you can display your blueprints to me (the salesman) and we can discuss what is possible together, by pointing out to each other various parts of the blueprint. (We can both write on top of the blueprint)
I can be showing you various info about my ball bearings at the same time ie e tolerances etc.
At present its mainly engineers solving problems on big projects who use the technique.
A crude version is built into Microsoft Netmeeting
