Hi Daniel,
I ran a test this way: firstly I selected records from TranMstr table with price between 100000 and 150000. There were ~400000 records. Then I ran GetMedian & GetMedianValue couple of times. First time they both took ~6sec., then GetMedian took less than 0.5 sec. and GetMedianValue still took ~6sec.
In GetMedian I don't select anything, so if I have an index on desired field, it should run very quickly.
Did you run functions from FAQ?
If it's not broken, fix it until it is.
