Not sure of Barbara's thoughts, but one thing that makes me agree that MS seems a little "better at watching their back" is the speed with which they recovered after initially dropping the ball on the internet. If IBM could have made a similar turnaround in 1988-90 or so, this would have been a very different decade. On the other hand, the no-anti-trust-lawyer argument is a good one against them.
