>I have expereinced similiar problems, usually with in-process servers running in an excel spread-sheet. I have found the behavior is not directly related to Notes 4.5. Notes 4.5 does install quincy for Win32 which captures all information on errors similiar to Dr. Watson for Windows NT 3.5 workstation. I can recreate the errors on machines without Notes 4.5 and the application will just abend. Maybe there are other people expereinceing this behavior, as it has been very difficult to troubleshoot. Please let me know if you find anything. > >You are not alone ! > >Robert Horkay Thanks for your reply. You are correct. QNC is a generic error handler installed by NOTES 4.51, and is very sensitive to illegal system calls. I had a look around and found that the error was occuring through VFPO.DBG which could be the debugger for VFP. Obviously, VFPO.DBG is making some 'undocumented' calls to the system which Lotus does not know about (typical M$ !). The evidence that most programs which have crashed have been Microsoft, is overwhelming. This vindicates the theory that M$ does keep a lot under its bonnet and does not let on. By the way, people have reported similar problems with WinFax too. The work-around for the moment; Get into the DOS prompt, directory WINDOWS\NOTES (that's for me) and uninstall: QNC -u. This will allow applications to use their generic error handlers without QNC stepping in and crashing them. Sometimes, an application's inherent error handler may be more informative... Sanjay
