The reason I ask is that "Will VFP be around in 5 years time?" was a major issue a few months ago, until VFP7 came about. But you don't hear people worrying about that with VB or Delphi. But I know what you mean.

Tell me more about VS.NET, why will VB be dead?

Well, my point is, the future is hard to read for ANY language.

And my "VB is dead" comment has to do with the fairly radical changes in line for VB. You could probably make an argument that Microsoft could rename it -- from what I hear, there are many ways in which the new version of VB will be as different from the current VB as C# will be from C++. Some VB folks are worried about this.... many are not, I should point out, but some are.

Anyway, I was mainly being a wise*ss -- my main point is that VFP is alive and well, as much so as any other language. There is always a level of uncertainty when trying to read the tea leaves of the future of technology, and IMHO, this should not be a HUGE consideration, in and of itself. Hey, listen, a few months ago there was serious question whether MICROSOFT would be around in five years. Does this mean you should stop using Windows products?
The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, but wiser people so full of doubts. - Bertrand Russell
