It is in SQL *expressions* that the difficulty arises. I try to use approved odbc function wrappers. Eg, not Upper() which works with some databases, but {fn UCASE(myvar)} which gets mapped by the odbc to work properly everywhere I've tried. There are others that need a bit more work like date differences, but often you can just pull the 2 dates and do the work at display time using a VFP index or an expression.

If you have a big Oracle project, I recommend you at least look at xcase- www.xcase.com because if you *start* the project with xCase, you can do the data in Oracle, SQL Server, whatever you like, easily. It also automatically updates your views as you change your table schemas- one of the big gripes about using RVs. Worth every cent IMHO.
