Evan,
Besides a good marketing strategy we don't seem to understand that we are spoiled in our community.
We tend to look at VB and it's huge number of 'developers' while we don't seem to realize that much of these 'developers' are not designing real database applications. And for a number of 'developer' which do, they do a fairly poor job.
The market for database apps where VFP is written for, might not be that large as we think. End users are better of with MS access. I wonder how many other database application developers remain....
I've been doing quit a bit research in another database application: 'Navision'. Well this support is really bad !! the community is very limited and nothing compared to VFP. From the stories i've read here on the UT about powerbuilder, is that this one neither could compare. Oracle with oracle forms ? Cobol and DB2 ?? I don't think so.
IMO, The only one that might be comparable to VFP's community might be Delphi. But on the other hand, this is also a general purpose language.
In general, I think we should be very happy with our community and don't think there is not any reason to worry about the future. The contact with the VFP team is real tight, There are numerous people sharing their ideas, programs and knowledge, and there are numerous succesfull VFP applications running.
Just my fl 0,02
Walter,
