David;

I use a clean install. A ghost is not a bad idea as we use them at work.

Another thing I do is to test the new app at the client side. Most of the apps I create are placed on the server and the client is mapped to it. No need to load the VFP Library on the client machines. With a properly designed LAN (100T) and server it works well. Few clients have asked for client side exe's but I will do what ever I am paid for - if it is legal. In the case of client side exe's I also load a clean machine as well as a server. I stay away from ActiveX components when I use VFP. About 90% of my work is in VFP. I change for the testing of installations as an included cost. If it is not billable do not do it.

The biggest problem I have run into is with VB installations - just watch out for the DLL's.

Using the above techniques for the last eleven years has been successful for me. I have not had to go back to a client site because of an improper installation.

Tom
