>I've tried to be careful not to be critical. I think we have a far better community in many ways than others. I just think that we need more (free!!!!)tutorial materials that are organized to take a person from point a to point VFP! (sorry could not resist!) :)

Tom, it's time to be realistic about this; I'm pretty well saturated as far as the ability to devote time to supporting the VFP community. So are a large number of other people who're actively contributing their efforts to the VFP community who're at a similar level of expertise. Wile it'd be wonderful to see contributions of vast, comprehensive tutorial guides for VFP developers at all levels, from a realistic standpoint, relying on the population of really qualified experts to invest a great deal of time developing a set of adequate tutorials without compensation is not likely to generate a great deal of enthusiasm from the people who're capable of doing a really good job of it. I can't see taking several weeks of my time to build a tutorial at least where I don't do something to cover the mortgage, car payments, grocery bills and insurance. It'd be great if these expenses weren't an issue, but short of being incarcerated and having all my expenses paid by the state, or hitting the lottery (in which case, I'd probably find my time taken up with spending the cash) I doubt I could find the time to do an adequate job without compensation to at least leave me in as good a living situation s I have now.
Maybe Evan inherited a vast (or half-vast) fortune from a distant relation, allowing him to become a gentleman scholar with enormous amounts of free time to spend crafting a comprehensive tutorial guide. It's more likely that he and Cindy will be able to do a really good job of creating ongoing tutorial development if several thousand copies of the book they're frantically trying to bring to market were sold in advance of publication, so that the publisher and the authors can comfortably produuce a great book in a timely fashion without worrying about who's picking up the tab at McDonalds for lunch...
