I'm pretty sure all version of Netware since 4.x use dynamic file settings. However, Novell seems to be notorius for changing the default setting of opportunistic locking back and forth with each client revision. I've become too removed from the NW environment in recent years to remember which is the way we want it, Op Locks on or off. I think it's off. You might want to check that.
