>I just talk with Microsoft and payed them to tell me that vfp 3 and VFP 5 were not designed to have an application installed on a network with workstations sharing the exe. Instead the system should be installed on all workstations and access only the data on the network. This is suppose to fix error 1104. What do you think of this?

What I suggest for multi-user apps is to have a standard EXE that launches MyApp all from a local drive. This EXE never needs to be modified. It also looks for updated program files on the server. If it finds any, it copies them to the user's local drive the next time the user launches the app. The EXE then starts the "real" application (now updated) on the local drive. All the data is still on the server. Works very well, is transparent to the user, and keeps your application running more effeciently from a local drive (makes users happier).

This technique was detailed in a FoxPro Advisor article about a year ago. It was called LAUNCHER I think. I wrote about this in an earlier UT thread about 6 weeks ago.
