I remember when the dotcom revolution first started. There was an editorial in the LA Times hoping for a dotcom crash because people in Silicon valley had become such a**holes because of the sudden influx of money. I need to take a trip up your way so I can compare the "Northern attitude" to the "Southern attitude".
The most amazing part, that people might not relize about "California Parking Lots" is how they can occur at any time of the day. When I used to live in Denver, where you could drive 70-80 mph on the weekends and evening, I would hear about 24 hr a day traffic in CA. The first time I experienced it I was amazed.

>>One family in nine earns at least $1,000,000 annually. Middle class for a family of four starts at $76,000 annually. If a family of four earns $56,000 or less they are eligible for Federal Housing Assistance. Do not forget our freeways - also known as "California Parking Lots". Freeways are a great way to get aquatinted with other motorists and enjoy EPA approved air. If you are a programmer and like greed - this is the place to be! Leave your family and moral values behind and become a .COM programmer.
